TERRA NOVA III (2015)

was made in collaboration with artist Harald den Breejen and was based on our experiences from the TERRA NOVA (2012) project. For the original project we restaged the Terra Nova expedition made in 1914 by Sir Robert Scott. The goal of our expedition was to reach the middle of the Wadden Sea instead of the South Pole. Like Scott we man-hauled an arctic sled through Friesland to reach this middle point. In TERRA NOVA III we recounted this expedition in the local pub in Beetsterzwaag. Here a continuously expanding song was performed which was loosely based on the experiences during the journey. In a gallery down the street, two life-size portraits of the expedition members, that looked directly towards the middle-point of the Wadden Sea, were displayed.

- This work was made possible with the generous support of Kunsthuis Syb.
